<procdesc>Attributes were edited based on the following instruction from the Fish and Wildlife Service
Substrates with less than 30% cover will be mapped as "US" - unconsolidated shore, "UB" -unconsolidated bottom or "SB" streambed.
If there is 30% vegetative cover, the dominant lifeform comprising the 30% cover will be the first of a mixed class. FO/SS or FO/EM for 30% forest.
If there is a approximate 50% - 50% mix the dominant life form will take precedence and the mixed class will not be used. 50% forest would be classified as PFO.
Depending on the photo signature pine may be best represented by PSS3. Later the pine will dominate and until it attains the 20' height the classification should be PSS4.
If there are ditches even just read side ditches, use the "d" modifier. Unless there is overwhelming evidence that a ditched pine plantation on a hydric soil has been effectively drained, classify the area as PFO4Ad.
Classify the pine savanna (30% cover) and pitcher plant pine savannas areas (formerly PFO4/EM1B) of mineral soil as PFO4/EM1A
As a general rule, pine savannas above the 5' contour should be classified as the PFO4/EM1A if forested or as PEM1A.
At the subclass level for forest and shrub mixed classes may be appropriate since it is common to have bays and hardwoods or bays and cypress evenly interspersed in the wetlands. This mix may be an important classification for the map users if used correctly.</procdesc>
